this place sucked. they ignored our order, and never brought our food. they said "the order never came", but we got the confirmation you have to manually type in numbers to get. they were mean too when we finally got them over the phone.

I was so amped when I read this menu because it's unlike anything else in Bed-Stuy (delivery-wise, anyway). The bad reviews about delivery time and the delivery fee gave me pause, but I decided to try it anyway. I ordered the chicken nuggets, scallion pancakes and tofu rolls. The food came a full two hours after I ordered. I called an hour after I ordered and was told (after a lengthy hold) that my food had left already, so by the time it did arrive an hour later, it was (not surprisingly) not hot.
The chicken nuggets were awesome. The scallion pancakes were fine but nothing special and I tossed the tofu rolls -- super soggy/mushy.
Overall: great nuggets, bad service. And what's with the $3 delivery fee? I've never seen that on Seamless before and with this restaurant it seems especially ludicrous.

The food is not tasty. Eating in a restaurant should be better than home and it's really not the case. I wasn't able to eat my rolls, the fried one are like fast food and my "fake" beef tasted like plastic.

Wasn't a fan of the food. Ordered 2 dishes, chicken and shrimp pad thai. Was turned off by how they skimped on the shrimp itself by slicing them length wise. Overall wasn't very tasty.

Best takeout I've ever had. Got the ribs, corn soup,& a juice. I like my food very light, so I loved the taste. No heavy sauces or flavors. If you want a more 'filling' 'take out-ish' flavor this may not be your taste

I ordered from Vegetarian Palate as soon as they became available. My partner is vegetarian and I will eat vegetarian as well. Many times I find vegetarian food to be bland. This was not the case with Vegetarian Palate. The food was really tasty. The delivery was reasonable and the delivery guy was friendly. I called to compliment the quality and they could not have been nicer. We will be ordering many times again.

The overall experience with this restaurant was uneven. While the delivery time was lightening fast, the food delivered was soggy and tasted a little undercooked.
Posted 4 months ago by Akeem B.
The ONLY thing worth ordering is the crispy chicken nuggets.. I keep trying other items and everything else is disgusting. The service varies, sometimes food comes hot and quick, other times its room temp and takes forever.. It's a hit or miss place.

Food took 1 1/2 hours to get here, delivery guy left it outside the door (did not even wait the 5 seconds for me to answer it) and, of course, food was cold. If they insist on a delivery fee, at least deliver it quick & hot, sigh.

I ordered the General Tso's Chicken because it sounded like the version I've had at other restaurants, but what I got is nothing like the other versions. First, it doesn't come with cashews though that is stated on the Seamless menu. The faux chicken was bulbous and tastes like it's gone bad. The vegetables were soggy and overcooked. I'm quite disappointed especially since this restaurant is close to where I live. Maybe other dishes are good, but please, please, please stay away from the General Tso's Chicken.

I ordered the pad thai and sauteed mixed vegetables. Both were mediocre. Dao Palate is much better.

i need to start keeping track of places never to order in from in this neighborhood. It's tragic, really.
I don't know why it's so difficult finding decent Udon soup around here but it is. Please beware, their 'Udon Soup' is really just Udon noodles in WATER, not broth, just water, with a bunch or random vegetables floating around. It tasted like nothing at all. Sad sad sad. I hope they remove it from the menu for everyone's sake.

Food took an hour which wouldn't have been such a big deal if the delivery guy wasn't so incredibly rude and unpleasant. He buzzed every unit in the building except mine, called my cell and yelled for me to come down and get my food. Won't be ordering from this place again.
Posted 9 months ago by Jenny W.
This is not quite healthy vegetarian cuisine, but it sure is tasty! The chicken nuggets are good, they have 2 different BBQ sauces, both yummy, and they have tons of options. Steer clear of the spring rolls - they are soggy and unappetizing, but everything else I have tried is tasty.

This place now charges a $3.00 delivery fee and the driver just tried to hassle me for an additional tip. This place is ridiculous. I used to order from this place regularly but that stops today - I won't be ordering from this place again.

Such a bummer, but this place is going downhill quickly. I've been ordering from here super regularly since I moved to Brooklyn a few years ago. However, the past few times I've ordered the delivery guy has been incredibly rude (today he decided he wouldn't bring my food up and instead I had to meet him outside, even though I told him I'm sick), the food hasn't been as good as usual, and now they're charging a $3 delivery fee! It's such a shame, but if things don't improve I won't be ordering from here for much longer. They need to talk to their delivery guy, cause I don't pay a $3 delivery fee plus a tip for him to be rude and make me go outside.

Officially obsessed with the crispy chicken nuggets. The wonton soup is amazing when the broth has enough flavor but once or twice the flavor has been a little on the weak side. Otherwise a fun vegetarian place if you want food that tastes fairly close to the real thing but not enough to gross you out if you're a vegetarian.

Awful. Just awful. If you're going to do this to yourself, only order the Crispy Nuggets. Don't bother with anything else.

We order from here fairly regularly, and VP consistently gets orders wrong. They send seaweed soup instead of hot & sour soup (this happened TWICE; two different orders). They send crispy nuggets when we ordered the sugar cane drumsticks. Seems like getting the order 100% correct is an ongoing problem. I also find the $3 delivery fee obnoxious. An additional fee, on top of whatever you include for a tip, is just ridiculous. Given the fee and the consistently wrong orders, we will have to stop ordering from VP. Too bad, because the food is pretty tasty. That is, when you get the items you actually ordered.

I've found all the Chinese/Asian options to be greasy and kind of gross, but man oh man, I am crazy for the crispy nuggets and salt and pepper tenders. And tater tots! It always seems funny that I hit up a mostly Chinese restaurant tater tots, but man, it's good. Speedy delivery, even though I'm kind of far away. Not crazy about the delivery fee.

I've been lucky to have continuously lived within the delivery zone for over ten years
Personal Menu Highlights of the vegetable based/non-mock meats include: Spring Rolls (mushroom-y goodness), Udon Noodle soup w/Veggies, Buddha's Deluxe. Happy Tummy inducing meat selections (other than crispy nuggets): the Sandwiches, Sugar Cane Drumsticks, Hot & Sour Soup (tiny bits of mock meat as well as tofu).
That said, I need to branch out to more than just the favorites although I'm very glad Vegetarian Palate has consistently created dishes to be one of my favorite local establishments.
In all my years ordering from here I've only had a handful of deliveries gone awry. I know sometimes accidents happen and I wish everyone a delicious next order! Bummed there's a new $3.00 delivery fee, maybe cos of suspected bum reviews (from newer competitors)? Hope it goes away soon!

A great option for vegetarians, nice variety and decent prices without a doubt.
As for the delivery it normally takes over 30 minutes if you are 0.2 miles away...

This is a great place with lots of options for vegetarians. However, if you don't eat meat because you don't like the texture, you may not like this place, because they use the fake soy protein stuff in everything. Also the pad thai is terrible. BUT everything else is delicious! My favorite is the Mango Chicken coz it comes in a big scooped out mango with the actual fruit sauteed with the veggies.. delicious! And of course the crispy nuggets are quite good. Enjoy!

I haven't tasted the food... I've been waiting for 75 minutes on a 15-30 minute wait time! The guy just turned up, the food delivered is not what was ordered and they charged me $2 more than the online price which INCLUDED tip and tax. Not a happy camper.

Warning: the crispy nuggets are addictive. Even carnivores are not immune to them. Most things on the menu are great, but I wouldn't recommend any of the appetizer rolls. Delivery is typically super fast, but when they get really busy, it can be a while. Rarely have that problem. Love the wonton soup and clear complexion juice. Shakes, chicken curry w potatoes, tangerine beef, chcken sandwich, and singapore style mai fun also top hits around here. Always a crowd pleaser. Even if my room-mates are already eating dinner, when I announce I'm ordering Veg Palate, they throw in requests... usually for crispy nuggets and juice.

Estimated deliver, 20-30; actual more like 50 minutes. Guy calls to argue that I need to come down (from the 2nd floor) to get food, then end up meeting him in the stairwell. Also brought me the wrong drink, but it's not worth waiting another hour for them to fix it.

I had the pad thai. Not sure who's recipe this is, but it is certainly not pad thai, and probably the blandest dish I've had in a long time. Not to mention the over cooked noodles, and random chunks of tomatoes.
The only upside to this place is that the delivery was very prompt. Though I probably won't order from here ever again.

Ordered from this restaurant in two occasions. Two reasons drove me here, the estimated delivery time of 15~30 min and it was not pizza. The first order took about one hour to arrive and when I called they told me they were having more then usual movement and they apologized. The second time just arrive, it was an improvement but still 45 minutes.

They're really good about following any directions/comments you leave--very important if you have an allergy, like me. Service is good and quick. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the food is not *that* great. It's good and healthy (depending what you order...I always get steamed tofu and veggies with brown rice), and their juices are really good. Solid go-to choice.

I frequently order delivery from Vegetarian Palate. The food has almost always come extremely quickly, in less than 30 minutes, and I always find the employees to be very pleasant. My go-to is an order of the faux chicken nuggets appetizer and scallion pancake. It's awesome comfort food and always feels like way too much food, for just a little more than $10. Love it!
Posted 2 years ago by Leigh M.
I love, love, love the salt and pepper chicken and the chicken tenders. The juices here are totally worth it. The corn chowder was not though. It reminded me of a gooey, warm, tasteless jello with bits of corn in it. Not my style. It sat in my fridge and didn't even grow mold. The scallion pancakes were ok, but I wouldn't order them again. A bit soggy and tasteless.

it was awful! too much vinegar! order vegetarian food from another place. this is just awful. ive tried it twice now and will never go back....
Posted 2 years ago by Charles D.
The food was decent, but the delivery and customer service was lacking. I ordered online through seamless, and this restaurant had a delivery time of 15-30 min. I called after 40 min and the man was rude and ended up hanging up on me. Called again, and a women said the driver was on his way. After 1 HOUR, I finally got the food (which was cold.)
My order was simple: garden salad and 'chicken' bites. The salad was actually pretty good size served with carrot ginger dressing (just okay) for $4.50. I really liked the breadcrumbs/crust on the chicken bites, but the fake chicken had a really weird, chewy texture - probably wouldn't get again.
I never would’ve ordered from there had I known it was going to a) take more than an hour; b) I’d have to waste time calling to f/u and receiving rude treatment; and c) the food was completely cold upon arrival.

Amazing vegetarian and vegan food! The first time that I tried the crispy nuggets I had to double check that they were actually vegetarian.
Posted 2 years ago by Alex T.
To be fair, I'm not vegan. I am mostly vegetarian. However, I dislike the fact that they thicken their curries and sauces primarily with corn starch. It doesn't taste that great and corn consumption has a far larger impact on the environment (a primary reason to be vegan or vegetarian). I would much prefer to see coconut milk curries. I do, however, enjoy one of their most unhealthful offerings which is their fake-chicken chicken-nuggets. The dipping sauce is unique and tasty and I love the fact that it's not actually chicken! Overall though I put this place more in the "nice try" category.

Can't beat the Crispy Nuggets, and the roll sampler ain't too bad, either. Wish they would've told me I was getting a Pepsi and not a Coke, but I guess no one's perfect.

This restaurant is amazing. The Mango Chicken is so delicious. The mangoes are always fresh. The peppers and onions are crisp. They give such a generous portion that you can get four servings out of it. The Salt and Pepper Chicken Tenders are crispy pieces of protein with a tasty dipping sauce. The Malaysian Pancake is good too.
Posted 3 years ago by Gail O.
Usually pretty good fake-meat Chinese food. The fried appetizers are varied and usually delicious, but most of the entres taste the same. One exception, noted by other reviewers, is the truly awful General Tso's chicken. The first time I thought it was a mistake, the second it was just as bad.

Great vegetarian chinese food, perfect for the lazy sunday night. Plus, they deliver lickety split: sometimes my order comes in 15 minutes or less.
Posted 3 years ago by tim d.
I don't like the flavor of meat, but I do like the texture. In that regard, Vegetarian Palate makes the BEST vegetarian protein, hands down. Every time I order from here, I am blown away and convinced I'm eating meat - just as satisfying to eat, just as filling. My only complaint is that their vegetables all seem to be the standard Chinese joint frozen bag variety - no Chinese broccoli, no loofah, nothing amazing. But everything is high quality and tastes great.

The nuggets are absolutely amazing and addictive. The hot and sour soup is extremely thick, almost gelatinous, but if you can get past the almost solid state of the broth it's delicious.
Posted 3 years ago by Mary B.
This restaurant is my absolute favorite to order from; this is the best Vegetarian Chinese restaurant around. My favorites include the Malaysian Pancake with Curry Sauce, the Crispy Nuggets, the Deep-Fried Wontons and the Crispy Chicken Salad; however, the HOLY GRAIL of this place is the Mango Chicken.
If you had to choose one thing to order, I'd definitely go with the Mango Chicken because you'll love it. I've tried other dishes in the past, but I always run back to the Mango Chicken. The mangoes, peppers and onions are all crisp and fresh and the sauce is just divine, did I mention how much the chicken actually tastes like real chicken? This dish is just perfection.
Also, their prices are great. That Mango Chicken dish I raved about above costs $11.50, but for that I get two scooped out Mango halves filled to the brim with slices of mango, peppers, onions and chicken, as well as a container of brown rice; the portions are generous and it honestly makes three meals for me. You can't go wrong with this restaurant.

I used to have to trek to the city for my veggie "meat" fill at Red Bamboo or VP2, but Vegetarian Palate has many of the same favorites and many more items. I order from this place at least once a month and have never been disappointed. Definitely try the banana chicken appetizer and if you are a fan of the crispy soul chicken at VP2 try the chicken here, exactly the same! Also if you are under the weather the wonton soup is delicious as are the juices they make. I've never eaten anything from here I didn't like, and I've tried everything from sauteed string beans to the banana chicken. You won't be disappointed.

Basically inedible. Disgusting, greasy and gooey. The only thing we could actually eat was the hot and sour soup. Other than that we had to throw out everything else. Even the spring rolls were horrible.
Posted 3 years ago by Emma M.
This place is great and I've been ordering from here from years. Solid, consistent vegan food and good fake meat substitutes. The Crispy Nuggets and the Salt and Pepper Chicken Tenders are delicious and are both served with very tasty dipping sauces. The Tofu Garlic Sauce is my go-to entree. With any tofu entree i recommend asking for extra vegetables--they are usually heavy handed on the tofu and light on the veggies. Portions are large--usually enough for tomorrow's lunch. Delivery is generally around 30 minutes.
Posted 3 years ago by Kate K.
Open late and delicious. Their fresh juices are amazing, a nice bonus.

Holy Crap. The Hype is true! I am always hesitant of soy-based fake meat products and was still a tad skeptical when I ordered, but this food is among the best vegan food I have ever had. The nuggets are incredible, and the mango chicken is ridiculously fantastic.

Really great food, but 15-30 minutes delivery estimate is a joke. It takes an hour.
Posted 3 years ago by Sarah R.
I got the General Tso's Chicken and the Fried Wontons. First, it took 3x as long as it was supposed to to be delivered, which was frustrating enough. The wontons were fried to the point of being tasteless (I couldn't taste the coconut or peanut supposedly inside), and the General Tso's Chicken was gummy and flavored with a sauce which should never be called "General Tso."
Will NOT be ordering from here again.

Ech, must echo many of the the other reviewers. Tangerine beef was supposed to be spicy--er, maybe if you also think cinnamon sugar is spicy. TVP and broccoli were overcooked and smelled really, really bizarre and unpleasant.
Curry rolls suffered from the same twisted definition of spiciness, and the only "mixed vegetables" to be found inside were green and red bell peppers, also overcooked. I know my vendetta against fruits-marauding-as-vegetables is my own problem, but I would like to be warned that the only veggies I'm getting are bell peppers. Despite my craving for Indian curry, I would have ordered something else if I'd known how bland they are.

Beyond horrible. Pad thai tastes like a mix of ketchup and sweet and sour mix. And the lo mein with ginger.....veggies are cooked badly (how does a vegetarian place screw up the VEGETABLES?) and when they say ginger they mean whole huge slices of ginger in the lo mein - makes you gag. And the noodles weren't cooked all that well either.

Horrible. I can't believe this has 4 stars. It shouldn't exist. Hopefully this review will bring the ratings down a notch. Don't believe me?... Good luck!

Kind of tasted like cheap chinese food. No heat in the spicy dishes.
Posted 4 years ago by Radiance H.
Really disappointing. I'm not a strict vegetarian, but I often enjoy a good meat substitute MORE than the meat it is simulating. And I've had many. The two dishes I tried were surprisingly bland (how do you make a bland general tso's sauce??) and the texture of both meats (chicken and beef) were off-putting. Most of the food went in the trash... I rarely put food in the trash. I was shocked being that this restaurant had 5 good reviews... either those reviewers have very low standards (or work for the restaurant) or the kitchen was having a bad, bad night.
